Will Dorothy Lee Barnett Get Bail?

Parental Kidnappers are Serious Flight Risks

Dorothy Lee Barnett on the lam for nearly 20 years

In next several weeks, Dorothy Lee Barnett’s Attorney Russell W. Mace III will go to Federal Court and ask for bail for Dorothy Lee Barnett. He’ll argue that she is no danger to the community and wants to tell her story before the World. Even though she feels she was wronged by the Family Court that attempted to protect Savanna from her by awarding sole custody to her former spouse, he’ll argue that she is no longer a serious flight risk.

We don’t see it that way. We compare the World Traveler Dorothy Lee Barnett like the character Bodhi, the bank robber and surfer in the 1991 Movie Point Break played by Patrick Swayze. Bodhi and his gang cleverly evaded law enforcement and the FBI for many years like Dorothy Lee Barnett did. When FBI Agent Johnny Utah played by Keanu Reeves finally tracks down and arrests Bodhi — in the final scene which was filmed at Bells Beach in Victoria, Australia, Bodhi tells Utah, “you know there is no way I can handle a cage“. We don’t think Dorothy Lee Barnett can handle that cage either. That’s why we’d like to see her plead guilty, admit she was wrong, apologize and let Harris and Savanna move on with their lives as Father and Daughter. That’s the way it should have been 20 years ago. Dorothy Lee Barnett, her family and her supporters have had 20 years to come forward to do the right thing and DID NO — please spare everyone especially Harris and Savanna having to listen to her same delusional story again and again.

Breaking News: In another parental kidnapping case, a Texas judge has raised the bail from $300,000 to $1 million for Dara Llorens who kidnapped her child for 12 years from Texas to Mexico. (October 3, 2014  Reference: Statesman.com)

You are a fanatic, you need to deal with these cases on a case to case basis. This case alone should tell you that. If i lost custody of an infant i would do the same. Only judge people if you can walk in their shoes.

      Tracey,

With that mindset, you will probably find yourself in jail or prison someday.

Tracey, most people in this world that don’t abide by a judge’s court order or don’t respect its legal system, will find themselves incarcerated for that social deviant behavior. Perhaps you have already done time for a crime that you didn’t think you committed.

That’s why Dorothy Lee Barnett is in jail today. Would you give Dorothy your house as collateral for her bail? If you were arrested, would your family members trust you enough to make bail for you? In Dorothy’s case she didn’t have to run, she could have just abided by the judge’s court order. She could have proved to the judge she was a “good enough” parent for joint custody. I think most family law attorneys would tell you that Dorothy would have eventually gotten joint custody.

But everyone who knows Dorothy very well would tell you that was never in the narcissistic Dorothy’s plans.

Finally, how would you feel walking in Harris Todd’s shoes?

Maybe you are the one Tracey that shouldn’t judge!

You dont know todd harris and you certainly dont care if he cheated to win. Dont mindlessly advocate on behalf of people you dont know consider each case by their circumstances. If he cheated and used friends in high places to win custody he would do it to maintain custody. Step back and take another look.

Tracey, Tracey, Tracey – a Family Law Trial is only held after both sides can’t come to a mutual decision about the caring and custody of their child. It sounds like you knew Dorothy back then and if so, do you think that the narcissistic Lee would have ever agreed to anything less than sole custody for herself and child support from Harris? In many of these cases, a Family Law Evaluator will say that after the passage of time, you will know which party is telling the truth. In this case, it sounds like the judge was correct by giving custody to Harris. It would have been far better for Savanna to be raised by the Yale-Educated Harris Todd with loving support from his extended family. Lee could have gone off and traveled the World and eventually come back to town like Meryl Streep did in the movie Kramer vs. Kramer. Instead, Lee is in jail right now and should serve some significant time in prison for this egregious crime that has impacted many lives. Lee’s own family members couldn’t or didn’t want to convince her not to go into hiding. They are as pathetic as she is.

Your allegation of “friends in high places” is simply ignorant. You sound like Bruce Michell in thinking that it’s easy to pay off a judge. Maybe that’s the way Bruce rolls in Australia, but that’s not how it is in America. There are reports that Lee had to be restrained during the trial. Is that true?

If you really think that Harris cheated to win — why can’t you see that the real cheater is Lee! She robbed Savanna of her Yale-educated father, her grandmother and the entire Todd Family (her Barnett family too).

Your support of Dorothy Lee Barnett is more likely based on your friendship and not the facts of this case. You might even be Lee’s mother!

Education and money makes for good parenting skills. How many screwed up vapid rich children are there. She should leave her child and travel the world? I am now sorry i left a comment, you are completely off mentally. I hope she gets a sentence of time served. Glad she had the courage to do what she did.

Yes a degree from Yale University means something. And wasn’t it Lee that needed money in Australia? Yes, money means something. With money, you have even better parenting skills because you can afford to provide your child the best of the best. Take a look at Savanna’s room in Charleston — wasn’t it a nice room. How Savanna’s life would have been different and still can be with a relationship and support from the Harris and his family!

She should leave her child and travel the world?

Yes, my guess is that Lee didn’t want to stay in Isle of the Palms! She was not going to spend the rest of her life in South Carolina. So let see, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia … Her own mother lives in Belize!

I am now sorry i left a comment, you are completely off mentally. I hope she gets a sentence of time served. Glad she had the courage to do what she did.

When it comes to punishment for this crime, one has to ask if the purpose of our criminal justice system is to punish or rehabilitate. If you want to deter others from committing this crime, then it depends if Dorothy Lee Barnett shows remorse and apologizes to the victims (Harris, Savanna) for her crime. If she doesn’t then she should get the maximum sentence.

What I never understand with these arrested moms on trial is that they never do that. They are too narcissistic like most other parental kidnappers. She want’s to be the diva and wants her daughter to be one too by going to trial. If she goes to trial, then she should also get the maximum sentence.

To get credit for time served, she should apologize to her daughter Savanna and Harris. She support Savanna in reunifying or starting up a relationship with Harris. She should admit to the court that made a mistake and ask for forgiveness. The Barnett Family, Bruce Michell and the Good ‘Ol Ladies in Australia should also support this.

If you are in fact Lee’s Mother Dorothy, then it’s time that you asked Lee for this. It’s the responsible thing to do! It is time for the Barnett Family to show some compassion for Savanna, Harris and his Family.

This is a very sad story about Parental Kidnapping and nothing else. There is no reasonable legal defense for this crime.
